Sustainable polyurethane adhesives

Simalfa polyurethane (PU) adhesives are advanced water-based systems engineered specifically for polyurethane foam bonding. Global Recycled Standard (GRS)

The Global Recycled Standard is a voluntary product standard from Textile Exchange. Brands use GRS to document recycled content through the supply chain and to verify related social, environmental, and chemical practices. When customers ask how a water-based adhesive fits a GRS program, the recycled-content rules are the point that must stay precise.

Recycled content: a precise distinction

Simalfa does not use recycled materials in adhesive formulations. The chemistry is specified for bond strength, process speed, and substrate compatibility. Quality is key in adhesive formulations.

Simalfa packaging is 100% recycled. That is the recycled-material claim that belongs on the container, not in the formulation. Plants documenting GRS or other recycled-content programs should treat the adhesive as a performance input and the packaging as the recycled-content component.

What GRS programs typically review

• Supply chain and chain of custody. Recycled-content claims have to be traceable. Simalfa's role is to be clear about what is, and is not, recycled so customer documentation stays honest.
• Chemical restrictions. Simalfa adhesives are water-based and solvent-free. They are designed without the hazardous solvent chemistry that many programs exist to move away from.
• Facility practices. Simalfa operations include water recycling and LED lighting as part of how the plant is run.
• Fair labor. Social criteria sit alongside environmental criteria in GRS. Simalfa treats fair labor as a standing operating expectation, not a slogan.
